3 The Nevado de Colima National Park (Good shape required)

Visit the Nevado de Colima National Park Observe Mexico’s most active volcano from a height of 13,300 feet!

During this tour we’ll guide you on the eastern side of the two volcanoes. After an amazing drive full of different landscapes we’ll enter the Nevado de Colima National Park. At higher elevation we’ll encounter another ecosystem and amazing views of these exotic regions. The Nevado volcano is at the heart of the national park. There we’ll hike and explore the park above 13,000 feet. This park is a unique natural reserve with more than 20 rare and endangered species. It is an ideal place to observe the active volcano “El Volcán de Fuego” from above.

Due to the elevation you’ll need to be in good shape. We’ll guide you to 13,180 feet (relatively easy 40 minute hike up slope) where you can  observe the crater of the active volcano. An amazing challenge to yourself, while discovering an unknown Mexico from above. On our way back at the bottom we’ll relax and enjoy a traditional buffet.

4 The Nevado de Colima Summit

(very good shape and mountaineering experience required)

Observe Mexico’s most active volcano from a height of

14,300 feet!

During this tour we’ll guide you to the top of the inactive neighboring peak of the Fire Volcano(13,000 feet). This hike requires excellent physical condition and a good level of experience in mountaineering (1 hour 40 minute hike up slope above 13,000 feet). Due to the proximity of the active volcano, a special permit is necessary to go to the summit. We need to know you want to go to the top at least two days in advance to obtain the permit. It is important to know that even with the permit the authorities can stop us to enter the volcanic dangerous zone and to go to the top if the Fire Volcano enters in higher activity. This is an amazing challenge to yourself, while discovering an unknown Mexico from above. On our way back at the bottom we’ll relax and enjoy a well deserved traditional buffet.

Departure: 8:00 am          Duration: around 10 hour

Cost from Colima: 100 US$   Cost from Manzanillo: 120 US$
