During your guided journey with Volcano Tours you will discover an unknown
México with amazing views. You will enjoy hiking, rappelling, and canyoning in the cool sunny weather of the higher inland
near the most active volcano in México. Between 4,000 feet and 14,000 feet of elevation, you will discover incredibly different
landscapes and fauna (birds especially) that will fulfill your adventurous spirit. The main focus will always be the observation
of this active volcano and the communication of our best knowledge*.
1 La Yerbabuena and the tunnels…(very easy)
This tour takes place on the western slopes of the Fire Volcano.
You’ll enjoy the cool weather of these forested valleys, tranquil lagoons and the impressive views of “El Volcán de Fuego”.
Going
up slope through deep canyons and tropical forest we’ll discover San Antonio, La Yerbabuena, and “El Volcán de
Fuego”. From there we’ll be able to observe the avalanches of lava and hear the volcanic explosions. Then you’ll
discover the regional organic coffee, and its culture, a beautiful lake and mysterious tunnels in the crater of an inactive
volcano. Then, we’ll invite you to discover the processing of the coffee bins, and to taste this delicious coffee. We’ll
then go back to Comala to enjoy an amazing and tasty lunch. If you wish we’ll finish our journey by visiting Alejandro
Rangel Hidalgo’s museum in Nogueras.

2 The Fire Volcano, the hidden lagoon,
and rappelling in the crater of an extinct volcano…(fairly
easy)
This tour also takes place on the western slopes of the Fire
Volcano. You’ll enjoy cool weather during a beautiful hike in the tropical forest while observing birds and the most active
volcano in México. We’ll first discover La Yerbabuena, and “El Volcán
de Fuego”. From there we’ll be able
to observe the avalanches of lava and hear the volcanic explosions. We’ll then hike near a mysterious Hidden Lagoon
and reach the rim of the crater of an extinct volcano. We’ll enter the crater using rappelling technique (easy, even
for beginners). We’ll continue hiking and you’ll discover the regional organic coffee, and its culture, and finally
reach a beautiful crater lake. Then, we’ll invite you to discover the processing of the coffee bins, and taste this
delicious coffee. We’ll then go back to Comala to enjoy an amazing typical lunch. If you wish we’ll finish our
journey by visiting Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo’s museum in Nogueras.

3 The Nevado de Colima National Park (Good shape required)
Visit the Nevado de Colima National Park Observe Mexico’s most active volcano from a height of 13,300 feet!
During this tour we’ll guide you on the eastern side of the two volcanoes. After an amazing drive
full of different landscapes we’ll enter the Nevado de Colima National Park. At higher elevation we’ll encounter
another ecosystem and amazing views of these exotic regions. The Nevado volcano is at the
heart of the national park. There we’ll hike and explore the park above 13,000 feet. This park is a unique natural reserve with more than 20 rare and endangered species. It is an ideal place to observe the active
volcano “El Volcán de Fuego” from above.
Due to the elevation you’ll
need to be in good shape. We’ll guide you to 13,180 feet (relatively easy 40 minute hike up slope) where you can observe the crater of the active volcano. An amazing challenge to yourself, while
discovering an unknown Mexico from above. On our way back at the bottom we’ll relax and enjoy a traditional buffet.

4 The Nevado de
Colima Summit
(very good shape and mountaineering experience required)
Observe Mexico’s most active volcano from a height of
14,300 feet!
During this tour we’ll guide you to the top of the inactive neighboring peak of the Fire Volcano(13,000
feet). This hike requires excellent physical condition and a good level of experience in mountaineering (1 hour 40 minute hike up slope above 13,000 feet). Due to the proximity of the active volcano, a special permit is
necessary to go to the summit. We need to know you want to go to the top at least two days in advance to obtain the permit.
It is important to know that even with the permit the authorities can stop us to enter the volcanic dangerous zone and to
go to the top if the Fire Volcano enters in higher activity.
This is an amazing challenge to yourself, while discovering an unknown Mexico from above. On our way back at the bottom we’ll
relax and enjoy a well deserved traditional buffet.

5 Volcano and
Ballet (very easy)

This tour is the laid-back and cultural version of our
tours.
After enjoying a great dinner in Colima we’ll go to a spectacular
folkloric show in Colima. The show will be performed by the Colima Folkloric Ballet. It is the best folkloric ballet in Mexico
and is the official representative of Mexico in many international events. After the show it will be dark enough to guide
you to specific places where one can observe the glowing lava flows. This unforgettable experience will make you discover
the real México and its profound culture.

6 Canyoning in
the volcanic canyons (fairly easy)
This tour is an easy adventure where you’ll enjoy a nice day
near Minatitlan, playing in the volcanic canyons and rappelling in the waterfalls. The sceneries are majestic and the playground
is delightful.
