Plaza de la libertad

Its many parks are one reason that Colima is a beautiful place to relax and to have a good time. They offer an attractive public place to walk, to see other people, to  rest or to reflect.

These parks are famous because people do a lot of things in them, like hold fairs, parties and regional celebrations. A lot of famous people in the past came to this city, including Jose Maria Morelos (one of the important figures in the independence of México) that came to rest a few days in the parks, with all his army.

These parks are very clean, so, you can breathe good air, drinking regional drinks like ‘tuba’ or ‘tejuino,’ or you can go just to see the shops that are around the park. The most important parks are:  “Parque Nuñez,” “Parque Hidalgo” and “Parque  libertad.” These places are very safe and big. You can go to walk or to talk with family or friends, eat ice cream and stay as long as you want. There are social events, such as concerts or celebrations like Independence Day.

All the parks have gardens, some of them with figures in the trees, with beautiful fountains, some of them have stone structures, like the “Piedra Lisa” Park and San Francisco Park. Other parks have places where children can play and others have only benches. So, it’s good to have these parks that other cities don’t have.
