Los Naranjos is a very familiar traditional restaurant in Colima,
and it is one of my favorites. It’s only a block and a half from the main zocalo (plaza), located at Barreda
34 in downtown. The servers are very friendly and patient. The atmosphere is
simple and lovely, the place is clean, the food is quite good and the portions are ample. The restaurant is situated in a
long room, with the back part of the room slightly raised above the front room. There are several stairs leading up to the
back room, and if you look up while in the back room, you will see the sky, as there is no roof.
Famous for its Mexican-style breakfasts, it is the best place to take
breakfast, featuring omelets, chilaquiles,
quesadillas, machaka meat (an excellent meat with egg and red sauce, fresh fruit and juice, bacon or
ham). The price includes all the coffee or tea you can drink. Los Naranjos has a buffet for $7 dollars, but only in the mornings.
Breakfast is served from 8 to 10 a.m. only.
Lunches are excellent, too, if you want meat there is a good plate,
the arrachera especial, which is a marinated, tender, thick-cut flank steak. You order by kilo, or fractions thereof.
Your meat is served on a hibachi or a sizzling platter with a choice of bean soup or mashed potatoes and vegetables with your meal. Free chips and salsa as an
appetizer. Lunch is served from 1-4 p.m. only. Los Naranjos also serves dinner, and is famous for its coffee, chocolate milk and chocolate. It is also a great place to have a good conversation and to
talk about business .
Los Naranjos is open from 8am until 11:30pm everyday . There
is another one in Constitucion Ave., also named los Naranjos. It is in front
of the junior high school Marcela Domene, Credit cards accepted. No need for reservations.
